The Director – Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) owns the ES&H Manual and has ultimate subject matter determination authority. Upon completion of the review process ES&H chapters are approved by the Laboratory Director and his designates.

The Division Safety Officers (DSC/DSO) are provided an opportunity to review requested substantive changes to the ES&H Manual content prior to approval and implementation. The Director’s Safety Council is notified of substantive manual changes at the quarterly DSC meetings.
- Content revision requests are reviewed by the Technical Points-of-Contact in conjunction with appropriate Subject Matter Experts. All accepted edits are reviewed and approved by the Director – ES&H
- Mitigation for hazard issues listed within ES&H Manual Chapter 2410 Appendix T1 Hazard Issues List is required to be provided for within the ES&H Manual.
- The process steps for this procedure are performed in coordination with ES&H Manual Chapter 1300 Content Review Process.
